Between January 12 and 16, our research group had the pleasure of hosting Prof. Dr. Edvaldo Sabadini (UNICAMP), who taught the course Rheology of Colloidal Systems at UFPA–Salinópolis.
The course provided a comprehensive overview of the physical and chemical foundations of colloidal systems, including polymeric systems, particle dispersions, and surfactant-based aggregates, together with complementary characterization techniques such as static and dynamic light scattering and zeta potential measurements. Fundamental concepts of rheology were then introduced, with emphasis on linear and non-linear regimes and their applications to polymer solutions. The program concluded with a discussion of rheological applications in problems related to petroleum exploration, highlighting the relevance of rheology in the understanding and control of complex fluids used in the energy industry.
We sincerely thank Prof. Edvaldo Sabadini for sharing his expertise and experience with our group. We are confident that this course will be highly beneficial and that its impact will be reflected in future research developments and scientific outcomes.

LCETRO attended the inauguration of the Tupi Complex (CT), a new modular research facility at UFPA designed to accommodate the administrative structure of the research group and support its growing scientific activities in petroleum and energy.
The construction of this space was made possible through an investment of approximately R$ 1 million by TotalEnergies. In addition, TotalEnergies maintains a long-term research partnership with the group, with total investments on the order of US$ 2 million (about R$ 11 million), including funding for R&D projects and infrastructure development.
This initiative highlights the strategic role of industry–university collaboration in fostering high-impact research, innovation, and capacity building in the energy sector.
