The Tupi Complex, established in 2025 with funding from TotalEnergies, is a multidisciplinary research facility that hosts the Energy and Petroleum Science Laboratory (LCPETRO), the Laboratory of Reservoir Engineering and Digital Rocks (LASPORO), and the Laboratory for Integrated Research in Geoenergy (LIRGE).
Occupying a 200 m² modular building, the Tupi Complex accommodates research and faculty offices, a computational laboratory, meeting rooms, a mini-auditorium, and dedicated spaces for researchers.
The name “Tupi” was chosen both to honor Brazil’s Indigenous heritage and to reference the historic “Tupi” pre-salt oil field, later renamed the Lula Field, in the Santos Basin, which represented a major milestone in the history of Brazilian petroleum exploration.
